Gymnastics has become a female-dominated sport and the number of great female athletes around proves this. Woman have really taken this sport and made it their own. Some of the women have become household names across the world.

In the World Artistic Gymnastic Championships which serves as a qualification for the Summer Olympics, many talents have come forward and made themselves known and are recognized as the greatest of their time.

Svetlana Vasilyevna Khorkina who is a retired Russian artistic gymnast. Svetlana has competed in the 1996 Summer Olympics, the 2000 Summer Olympics, and the 2004 Summer Olympics. Khorkina throughout her career has won seven Olympic medals. She has also won twenty World Championship medals. Svetlana was recorded as the first gymnast to win three all-around titles at the World Championships in the world. She is considered one of the most successful gymnasts of her time.

Gina Gogean

A retired gymnast from Romania, she has won 30 medals at the Olympic Games. She completed in the late 1980s to the 1990s internationally. She has a number of skills and talents but her best events were the floor exercise, the vault, and the balance beam. Gogean was a great all-around gymnast and had won a number of medals. A silver medal in 1996, 1993 and the European title in 1994. The Romanian team, with the help of Gogean, won three world titles in the years of 1994, 1995 and 1997. The Olympic team won two medals of silver and bronze in 1992 and 1996. She was introduced into the International Gymnastics Hall of Fame in 2013.

Simone Arianne Biles is an extremely talented gymnast from America. She has certainly earned the title of being the most talked about gymnast of our time. In most recent years, 2013-2015, biles has been named as the World all-around champion three times. She has also earned the titles of Unites States national all-around champion and the world floor champion in the same years. In 2014 and 2015 she was named the world balance beam champion and is a proud member of the gold medal-winning team from America in the 2014 and the 2015 World Artistic Gymnastics Championships.

Simone Biles has a total of 14 medals and is the first African-American to hold the world all-around champion and has set the record of being the first woman to win three consecutive titles.

Aliya Fargatovna Mustafina

Aliya Fargatovna Mustafin

Aliya Fargatovna Mustafina a Russian gymnast who was an uneven bars champion in 2012 at the Olympic Games, also the 2013 World Champion in the balance beam and the world all-around champion in the uneven bars in 2013. Being the most decorated gymnast across the board, Mustafina represented Russia at the 2012 Summer Olympics. She won four medals in that Olympics which were the silver in the team all-around. She also won the bronze in the individual all-around final, in the uneven bars she won gold and in the floor final, she won bronze.
